It sounds like a storybook childhood: running through fields, peering into ponds, adopting animals and drawing pictures of birds and flowers. Beatrix Potter turned her idyllic early experiences in Victorian England into beloved children's books, telling stories about squirrels, mice, frogs and, of course, naughty Peter Rabbit. In honor of the anniversary of the famous author's birth, Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria is throwing a Beatrix Potter Birthday Party on Thursday (and July 21) for children ages 3 to 5.
