THE logs glow low in the hearth and the smoke meanders up the chimney in beards and wisps and all the shapes of the imagination.
And these images hold back the yawns of the slippered children sitting on the couch, blowing dips into the top of their hot cocoa, as they wait for mum or dad to pull a slim volume from the bookcase.
