FOUR Christmas cards hand-painted by children's author Beatrix Potter discovered in a trunk in the attic of a Wiltshire cottage have sold for [Pounds]41,500 at auction.
The signed greetings cards - beautifully preserved in a brown envelope - were sent to Elinor and Bessie Lupton, whose father, Arthur Lupton, owned five mills in Leeds.
The girls - known as "The Misses Luptons" throughout their lives - kept the cards until their deaths within two years of each other in the late 1970s.
