It was a "Baum-y" morning in Chittenango on Friday when local dignitaries, Oz fans and the great-grandson of Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum gathered downtown to celebrate the village's new image.
Two years ago today, Chittenango's gritty main drag was reduced to gravel, the OzFest parade was downsized and some businesses had closed after the state Department of Transportation began work on the long-overdue Route 5 reconstruction project.
