Hug a Munchkin or kiss a good witch today in honor of L. Frank Baum's birthday.
Baum, the author of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," was born in Chittenango in 1856. Had Baum survived, he would have been 149 years old and in big demand as a guest at OzFest June 2 to 5, Chittenango's annual festival to its favorite son.
But, alas, Baum died May 6, 1919, in Hollywood, Calif., at the age of 62.
