For more than 100 years L. Frank Baum's imagination and writing has transported children to "The Wonderful World of Oz." Oz-phile librarian Carla Altman is helping Schneider Elementary School celebrate the author's 150th birthday this week at students' weekly library visits.

The magical world of Oz is still alive in elementary schools today thanks to Turner Classic Movies network, new DVD releases and to teachers like Altman, who shares her love of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man with her students in North Aurora.
