Q. Are my Oz books, written by L. Frank Baum, of any value? Their copyright dates list from 1899 to 1920.

A. Since Baum's first Oz book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is widely reported as published in 1900, your books would seem to be authentic. One would assume, then, that they have value.

But, as with so many collectibles, there are nuances, glitches, and variables on the road to riches. As detailed by Thomas Joyce of Thomas J. Joyce and Co., 400 N. Racine, Suite 103A (312-738-1933), the path to authentication for Oz books is torturous.
