The prologue to MGM's "The Wizard of Oz" makes reference to the original book by L. Frank Baum:

"For nearly 40 years, this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart; and time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion."

Now, the same can be said of the movie, except it's 50 years old, not 40, a fact CBS celebrates tonight by making something special of its annual "Wizard of Oz" telecast-the 32nd time it has aired on network TV.
