L. Frank Baum's book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" teaches us two very important lessons. One, there's no place like home _ even, though the grass may look greener someplace else; and two, running away from home is always a very bad idea _ especially during a storm.
The film version of the book first premiered in theaters Aug. 18, 1939, and was considered less than a smashing success with moviegoers. Since then, it has become a classic that has charmed the young and young-at-heart of all ages. Today, Dorothy, Toto and the Scarecrow are universally recognized.
