Richmond Herald is to be congratulated on pointing out the lack of any relationship between Anthony and Joanna Trollope (Letters, February 6).
Anthony Trollope belonged to the grand side of the family; baronets, bishops, admirals and generals. Joanna, like myself, belongs to the more prosaic branch; builders, architects, surveyors, estate agents, with only one bishop and a brigadier.
The family history was published in 1897 by my great-uncle Mark, the bishop, to which he added notes from another 30 years' research. The latest possible connection between the two branches is a Thomas Trollope, ...
