A MAN asked to carry out work at an elderly woman's flat stole her cheque book and issued cheques to the tune of pounds 18,500.

Defendant Andrew Lang, 30, also stole from the home of a blind man after he entered the house,claiming he was a telephone worker.

Lang of Rose View in Kinmel Bay -said to have been under pressure to pay off previous business debts -admitted burglary, theft and obtaining money by deception.

Jailing him for two and a half years,Judge Huw Daniel said that the courts would make it clear that they would protect as far as possible the elderly and ...
