GREENSBORO -- Mark Adamo's adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel, "Little Women," was presented before a nice-size audience in Aycock Auditorium Friday night. Evocative lighting, a magnificent set, great costumes, wonderful orchestral accompaniment and impressive voices presented this new opera in an appealing light.

The opera is an attractive addition to the contemporary repertoire - it has been staged dozens of times since its premiere in Houston in 1998, and Friday night's production makes clear the reason.
