THE majority of people do not know what APR they are paying on their credit cards.

Most people have no idea how much tax they are paying, either. They know that it is more than it used to be and they also believe that it is more than it ought to be.

This puzzlement has been caused deliberately.

Gordon Brown prefers people not to know how much he is taking from them.

The Chancellor has raised taxes by stealth no less than 66 times and he has not kept tax thresholds in line with growth and inflation.
