Can't deny the guy's influence, but my feeling is that he didn't do anything worthwhile after 1958. The whole Vegas period, quite apart from being the antithesis of everything rock'n'roll was about, would have been an embarrassment except for the fact that it revealed him for what he really was: a corporate entertainer whose natural consistuency was trade conventions and tupperware parties. 2/10

Unlike you, I was not around till much later so cannot compare his work before and after 1958 but I love his voice; would be happy to listen to him if he sang out the MacDonald's menu: 6/10!

Sigh... there is a definite tendency among some modern musicians to think that wittering into a microphone in a bored fashion is somehow more 'significant' than actually singing. I love voices: be they big, sorrowful, energetic, or whatever... this just lacks anything. 2/10.
