    They are profound questions.

“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””

“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

    Adorable!

    My favourites:

    Dear GOD,
Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones, why don't You just keep the ones You have now? -Jane
    Dear GOD,
Who draws the lines around the countries? -Nan
    Dear GOD,
I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church. Is that okay? -Neil
    Dear GOD,
Please send me a pony. I never asked for anything before, You can look it up. -Bruce
    Dear GOD,
I bet it is very hard for You to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can never do it. -Nan
    Dear GOD,
I do not think anybody could be a better GOD. Well, I just want You to know but I am not just saying that because You are GOD already. -Charles

    I may throw up.

On the other hand, all of these sound like initial questions on the path to atheism, so I'll forgive the cuteness and congratulate the intellectual rigour.

I was unsure as to whether these questions were merely supposed to be cute, or whether, in addition to being cute, they were supposed to demonstrate how even small children can make the idea of God seem both preposterous and undesirable.

    Gentlemen, gentlemen, please...

These letters are further proof that God exists: Even children are turning to God... They innately know that there must be a power above us all and that only that power holds the answers to the mysteries of the universe and our existence.

So when a kid says, "How does Santa get to all the houses in the world on his own?" that's proof that Santa exists. Gotcha.

Thank-you for so eloquently putting into words what I was thinking but could not contrive myself.

I am glad I could help!

I think we need a new type of font on this Forum: "Sarcastic font".

Can somebody explain something to me. A believer will try to give reasons for their feelings, albeit sometimes rather weak ones, but they at least try. Those who don't agree nearly always resort to sarcasm, ridicule, belittlement or insult. Why is this?

I try to avoid this term during discussions but, on this occassion, my conscience will not bother me for using it: Your suggestion is not true.

If you look at the (too) many discussion threads in existence in the Religious Texts section of the Forum, you will see that both sides go extreme lengths to explain their stands and make their points.

Of course, at times, there are occassions when humour, sarcasm and/or insults are employed but I could not bring myself to blame it on one particular belief (regardless of my own beliefs and opinions on religious issues).

I do not mind joking a little in this thread as it is not actually arguing a particular point or striving to prove anything.
