    Boy that Netherlands/Denmark game was boring. Even though I bet on the Dutch I began to root for the Danes.

    It was not just boring but extremely boring.

    I liked it.
    Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered;
    Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before;
    On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
    Then the bird said, "Nevermore."

    Holland have in previous world cups blazed onto the scene until they ran out of steam. They did that in the recent european cup too. Perhaps they're taing it a bit easier this year in the initial rounds.

    I've caught about half of both matches today (as I have been forced off of the settee to do that work thing) and I think the Dutch were OK but nothing special, but like Paul says perhaps they are saving a bit. For personal finanical reasons though I'm glad to see a bit of a lackluster performance as I'm hoping for Brazil and Spain to really shine.

    A Very good result from Japan today, perhaps the shock of the tournament so far on paper at least.

    I think the Italy game will be tight, and although I suspect Italy might just shade the match, I am going to go for a draw with minor stakes as I am certainly not risking too much on an Italian win as they naturally start slow, so:

    Italy Paraguay draw 4 Dantes.

    Japan broke my streak. Looked like Camroon kept getting stronger as the match went on, but they just couldn't put it in. Oh well. Now for the Italians! I hope I can stay up to the end. It starts at 12:30 AM where I am.

    Ho, ho, ho you Italian backers, not looking too good at 1-0 down... I'm hoping they pull one back though.

    Italy looked disappointing. Again they come good later in competitions.

    Never been a fan of the Italian football team and this seals the deal!

    Hoping Virgil stayed up to watch it, though!
