What a great topic! I am also alone , apart from my select amount of friends on here.

I also don't talk to anyone about it, because my circle is not that interested actually... At least I don't know of anyone who would know me on here. Please let me know if that is the case though.

But anyway, this site changed my life. I was so lonely in my book reading then...

I'm fine with it, although it really comes down to how many goats and bushels of turnips your father is prepared to offer me for your dowry.

    Sure she would. Do tell!

"But do you really, seriously, Major Scobie," Dr. Sykes asked, "believe in hell?"
    "Oh, yes, I do."
    "In flames and torment?"
"Perhaps not quite that. They tell us it may be a permanent sense of loss."
"That sort of hell wouldn't worry me," Fellowes said.
"Perhaps you've never lost anything of importance," Scobie said.

Never mind the goats and the turnips (you can always add those to your "gift list"); just ask her to sign a pre-nup promising that she won't go "spiritual" on you.

It can happen to men too, you know:

My father is prepared to offer a half bottle of Wiser's and a pound of deer sausage. Deal?

Aww, I wouldn't beat up Basil (as long as he does what he's told and doesn't give me any lip).

Also, your avatar tripped me up.
