    The Sick Day Thread

I am of the age where I would find a sick day thread useful, and so here is a sick day thread.

I think I caught bronchitis from my domestic helper's cold, not that I am positive, but my lungs won't settle down, I have a sore throat, my stomach is not keen on food, and I am having hot flashes in my cheeks, and haven't wanted to get out of bed since he left with the hoagie I bought him for dinner, and if I opt not to use him again because he doesn't have the presence of mind not to pass his viruses, I'd probably land someone worse, as I have fired about 50 women in the course of ten years, and he at least listens and only schedules with me when I need him...so it goes.

Something seems getting over you. Of course you must exorcise to shake you off the devil possessing you!

“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””

“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

I'm so sorry to hear that!

Maybe you should ask him to wear a mask when he's around you... it might sound a little weird but if you're health is delicate anyway it might be a good idea...

I really don't get why they don't use medical masks more in the states... I was in Japan for a few years and they use them all the time when they have a cold. It makes good sense if you ask me.

I hear that, Jozanny. I couldn't believe it when I went to a meeting, the other day, with a room full of hacking, coughing, feverish nurses...what is wrong with people. I understand it with non-medical people; but nurses should certainly understand what they are passing!
Of course, I've decided to always wear a mask when doing close contact care. I worried about offending my patients; but about 3 months ago a patient coughed/sprayed directly into my mouth and I had some bug like you for 2 months afterwards...
It sounds like you have that awful stuff that so many people have; I think I'd get to the doctor ASAP. I like male health care workers; alot of times they are alittle stronger. If you have a good rapport with him; then maybe it's just worth it to have a talk with him about passing germs.
    Hope you feel better soon!

Ah, ladies, I have a very hard time with personal assistants, which, mercifully, I will spare this community and not discuss, except to say, that yes, most of the time it is me, I am not always civil, and send them packing.

Sometimes it is them, and I seem to do better off the system, paying out of pocket, and the old man does not fear me, or judge me, and I need to forgive him these few issues, as no one is perfect.

I seem to be clearing up, but as I am a hypochondriac, well, here we are. I just finished my outreach to UCPA, so maybe the charity will... I don't know, work with me without the state mandate. I do not hate United Cerebral Palsy, anyway, though if they had given me that job in Washington DC I might have been a happier camper today.

I couldn't take it now though.

Feel better Jozanny. My only gripe was strep throat all around for my family this week. For me it is the second time in a month or so, so needless to say that I've felt better. Hopefully it is just a cold, and maybe you'll wake to sunshine in the morning and feeling better

Thanks mk; I caught a peek of your doctor post to your blog, and I am interested in reading, but my body is letting me be busy today. Yesterday taught me something, and that is, whether I have a *case* or not (cf gather friends) why do I keep wounding myself on it? I have to at least stop returning to the trough, really, even if years ago I went over the top. Maybe I cannot run, or relocate, but I can stop trying to rebuild my bridges back.

How awful; what is with these illnesses lately. I used to get sick every two years; now, even the strongest people who take care of themselves (unlike me) get sick for weeks when something hits them

Great thread. I'm on a sick day today. Sore throat, sore chest, sore head and my nose is blocked. Went to Wales at the weekend to catch ghosts and all i caught was this stinking flu instead!

You have a Welsh bug? Oh dearie, dearie me - they're the worst kind, you know, though you should be able to fight it off seeing as how you have Celtic blood flowing in your veins. Keep taking the medicine (the whiskey flavoured one with hot water and honey. )

I am going to start a campaign to have the CDC and its foreign counterparts declare menopause a temporary chronic condition.

Girls, be warned! You think those feminine hygiene commercials are stupid?

Ho oh oh, you have no idea what you're in for.
