Great Dylan song, Rolling Stone magazine's poll put it at the number one song of all time, and it may just be 10/10

Oh yeah, I've heard some of his songs, definitely digg the old folk stuff.

    8.7/10

This has been in my head for months, it was the opening music for Eyes Wide Shut.

Wow, unbelievably - a classic piece which I actually know!
I like the smooth sound of it. I find it hard to explain, but especially the first minute the sound is ... is ... soft?! Can you say that about music? I mean soft as in soothing and dreamy. Maybe I better stop talking now - just listen

    8/10

Sarah McLachlan - a great songwriter (lyrics!) and singer. Here is one of her less known songs:
    Ice
It is not too late, to be wild for roundabouts - to be wild for life
Wolfsheim - It is not too late

That was awesome - thanks for posting that. I wouldn't have heard it otherwise because I can't bring myself to listen to her for some reason probably because I am only vaguely aware of one release that I didn't like so much.

Tori Amos  Well, she rocks! No question about that. I like Crucify best, but this one is also mesmerising.

On another day I could easily find this banal. But today, being tired and a little under the weather, I can dig it well enough. 7.3/10.

    meh

Sorry, but my taste just doesn't fit with country. 5/10

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JH3O4HSs7g (this is from the French masterpiece Jules et Jim)

EDIT: Ugh I can't believe I posted such a low-quality version of the clip. Here's a much better one:

I would never choose to listen to it regularly haha, but it has a certain charm in the context of the film 6/10

Here's some French Canadian music from the 20s, very folk oriented and different from France's music. Obviously, with much less jazz influence.

Haha, I also came across this one from the same singer which is outrageously offensive.

Edit: Haha, not necessary to watch all of them, but I thought this one about Americans coming up during prohibition to drink was kind of cute.

5/10 was too folky for me lol.

(my French isn't very good so I was somewhat oblivious to the outragessness of the second one :S )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv_DcRYX43o From Mulholland Drive, though unfortunately I can't find an actual clip so it's just the song. Oh well, it's a masterful scene in the film and IMHO Lynch's finest moment.

EDIT: Oh I really like the third one! 8/10

Haha, I normally hate that song in English, but she has a lovely voice. 8/10

Very good 7/10 made me think of this song, familiar to everybody I'm sure:

Sure There's been a time when I couldn't understand why that song was always so high in those "top 100 of best songs ever". Lately, I start to understand the beauty of it

    7/10

    Some easy listening rock:
    Saving Jane - Imperfection
    I especially like the lyrics
It is not too late, to be wild for roundabouts - to be wild for life
Wolfsheim - It is not too late

It started good but somehow did not live up to my expectation: 6/10.

I've noticed that not only am I more critical than most about songs posted here, but I also seem to come in just when Scheherezade has posted, so I appear to be relentlessly snide about her picks.

In this case, I'm pleased to say that I think The Cure are a terrific, if limited, idea and when they first appeared (when I was about nineteen) I really liked Three Imaginary Boys, and then I really disliked The Forest, and after that Robert and I have had a kinduv on-off thing which we've come to understand how to live with. 8/10

Similar era. Incidentally, for unashamed pop music, this is the best bass player since McCartney.
