There was another spy guy with whom she was in love, I think?

Can anyone help me remember this movie's title? I am inclined to think it had Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman but it might be more of a wishful thinking!
Scher, could it be: "Notorious" (1946)...? I have tried to find that for so long now; suppose to be one of the best of Hitchcock's films.

I found this information and review on Amazon:
The following review sums up the movie well:Post-War Espionage and Romance in Rio, September 21, 2005 Reviewer: Paul Kellogg (New York, NY)Elegant Cary Grant and beautiful Ingrid Bergman play the leads. Grant is Devlin, an American intelligence agent; Bergman acts the part of Alicia Huberman, daughter of a convicted Nazi spy, and party girl. The American government has an assignment for Miss Huberman in Rio; Devlin delivers the proposal. She is to infiltrate a group of Nazi scientists working on atomic energy. She accepts. Though the leads are romantically attracted, Grant's Devlin tries to maintain a cool distance, yet simultaneously manages to criticize a colleague's wife when he says that Bergman's character is "not a lady." Bergman's Huberman gains entry to the Nazi circle, and then offers to marry the man who's running the operation. That's Alex Sebastian - played by Claude Rains. He's totally smitten with Bergman, but he's also a mama's boy. Mama runs his home, and also finds time to help him when he discovers he's "married to an American agent." These Nazis are a nasty lot. Suspenseful finale.
Hope that helps - seems 3 things fit: she marries a spy for her job and he is a mama's boy; also stars Ingrid Bergman/CaryGrant.

    Thank you, Janine!

I looked it up on IMDB as well and it sounds like "Notorious" is the one! Watched it about 30 years ago and I still remember being captivated by it.

Wonder if I can find it anywhere... Interesting that I have never come across this one on TV either. They show "North by Northwest" quite often, for example.

    Thank you once again.

The latest movie I saw was Ocean's 12, a night after seeing Ocean's 11. And the second one was better than the first, but it still disappointed me. Yet, I am still going to watch 13!

Scher, Glad this was the one. I hate it when I can't think of a title but usually I can see the actors and recall some of the plot. It will be available from Amazon soon; I just may buy it. I have been wanting to see that film for years and even the rental stores don't have it. I was so thrilled to find it is coming out and newly restored on DVD. I think I will put a pre-order in for it so it is cheaper. I have a feeling the prices on this one will rise and be way out of our price-range. It is a very sought after film.

Two nights ago I watched the new restored version of:

"Roman Holiday"...I love that film no matter how many times I watch it. It has to be a 10/10 - a true classic!

I love that movie! But, then again, which Hepburn movie do I not like?

I am thinking of investing in a Hepburn collection...

Good investment! I think she was so adorable and elegant in "Roman Holiday", no wonder she won the Oscar hands down. Peck and she were wonderful together.

Just a tid-bit of information for you. Hitchcock's daugher, Pat, who appeared in many of his films when a young girl, made the statement on the Larry King special featuring Hitch's leading ladies; that her father felt "Notorious" was his very best film. That was a great talk show segment, by the way. Wonder if we could find it on Youtube.

This one is looking good: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hepburn-Brea...0574982&sr=8-1

Though I love "How To Steal a Million" as well and I have already got Tiffany's.

Well, this girl knows what to ask for from Santa this year!

That does look like a good set and the price does not look too high - is 17 pounds about twice the price here in USA in dollars? I don't know the exchange rate off hand. Just know our poor dollar is not worth as much anymore.

Yeah, haven't seen "How to Steal a Million" in years...would like to see some of the others as well. I will have to check my library - surprisingly they do offer quite a few classic films. They have plenty of Jimmy Stewart films. I guess one of the libraries likes him a lot. I do also.

This set would be a very nice Christmas present from Santa.

One pound is about 1.7 USD these days so it would be something like $30 I think so really not bad at all.

I watched most of these movies as a young kid because my parents, especially my father, loved them, without knowing anything about the actors. When I grew up and watched them again, I realised that the ones I liked including the same stars.

Another favorite Audrey movie is "Wait Until Dark".

Scher, thanks for the conversion. Yes, that would not be bad; of course the UK Amazon is region 2, right? or is it 'all region'. A friend of mine made a gift to me of a Region 2 player so now I can watch those. Many of the new films are indeed 'all region'.

Actually my parents were not movie watchers. They took us to Disney films, etc. It not until I became much older that I discovered these old gems. Now I love old films.

Great film! Been sometime, since I have seen that one. Scary, too.

    Burn After Reading - 9/10
Brad Pitt stole the scenes in this movie, I thought. Too bad the role wasn't a little bigger.

Lars and the Real Girl - 10/10
I thought Ryan Gosling was great in this. Loved this movie!

    Philadelphia - 10/10
I watched this for the hundredth time today. Still puts me into a major funk afterwards as it did the first time that I saw it in the theaters back in '93. Excellent movie, though.

I watched Monday's Girl by Hal Hartly. I give it 4/10
It too preachy and his camera work made it hard to watch sometimes. I much prefer his older movies.

Hello again! It's been quite a while, but I'm back, and of course had to make my first pit stop right here!

While I haven't seen anything recently (back to school and all), I thought I'd share a piece of film news that has me pretty excited (and I think Janine will be too!). They're making a new film version of King Lear to be released in 2010. And not only that, but my favourite actor in the world will be reprising his role as Lear, whom he last played on stage!!!! Any guesses??
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

Welcome back *Classic*Charm*! I was just coming in here because I noticed your name in the listings. I had not seen you for some time now and wondered where you ran off to. There are a lot of changes to the forum; I did not know if you were aware of it yet - they are pretty exciting. You should take a look at all the new 'improved and creative' profile pages; I can just imagine yours, with lush equestrian themes. Funny you should mention me, eh? and always in conjunction with Shakespeare on film. I can't wait to see the new version. Might I wager a guess - does his first name begin with an A? ...his last begin with a H, by any chance? If so I think that will be a very fine production. I can't wait to see it, although I wonder if eventually my guy, Ken Branagh, will get older and play Lear someday; he played the fool in an audio production of the same play...come to think of it; I forgot all about that and failed to listen to it yet...maybe this week.

Glad to see you back and hope you had a great summer!
