It is not wise,I have decided,to listen to your dormmates and drink over 6 cups of coffee the night before a major exam.
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

Doesn't sound like a good idea.

    Questions on two different topics.

#1 - Does gelatin really work to help strengthen nails? My nails have been peeling and chipping so easily these last couple of months that it is borderline ridiculous. So I was wondering if anyone has tried this. If so, does it work? Or do any of those nail hardeners (i.e. Sally Hansen - there is some kind of SH nail hardener that is currently on sale that I am thinking about trying ) really work? Which is the best?

#2 - Does it seem that if hair is tied back (i.e. in a ponytail) it is more likely to "fall out"? Now, I don't mean fall out as in true hair loss. I am wondering if more hair will fall out while brushhing/combing the hair. Maybe it is just in my mind, but for awhile now it has seemed that there is more hair in my brush than there used to be. Whenever I wash my hair and then comb it through afterwards, there is more in the comb. My grandmother used to always tell me not to wear my hair tied back because I would be more apt to lose it. I have to tie it back now because it is just too hot to wear it down. Then, for dance, I have to tie it back. I have no choice. This is more or less a question that I am curious to know about because if it is true I will avoid tying it back as much as possible. Whenever I would ask someone at a salon about it, they never could give me an answer. So I have given up asking them anything.

I've never had luck with anything, my problem might be that I never stick witrh anything long enough to notice a difference.

My Mom used to tell me if I wore a hat my hair would fall out. I don't know. Last summer my hair was always in a ponytail and after a while I noticed breakage around my hair line. I had unwanted bangs for a little while until it grew back.

I think one reason might be simply that when you don't tie your hair back, you keep loosing hair all the time without noticing it and not all of it ends up in your hairbrush. But if you've had your hair tied back all day long, the loosing hair hasn't fallen off and then when you untie and brush your hair at the end of the day, all of it will be in your brush.

(I really don't know, just guessing here! )

I like that conclusion. I have super thick hair so I shed all of the time and I always wear my hair back because it takes for EVER to fix it enough to wear it down so yeah.

My hair isn't very thick, but I too almost always wear it tied back because otherwise it's in my face all the time and gets tangled.

It's funny, though - having a long hair sure can bring a lot of trouble, yet at least I wouldn't even consider cutting it short.

What wouldn't women be ready to suffer for beauty or how does that phrase go

Having long hair is so much more convenient that short hair, it really is. I thought short hair would be easier so I cut it all off after my youngest, Sam was born and it was a nightmare. I had to actually fix it every single day whether I was in the mood for it or not. With long hair you can always throw it into a pony or a braid and you're good to go. I like that fact that I can put in as much effort into my hair as I have the energy or inclination for. Sometimes I can mess with it forever, curling, straightening, scrunching but other times I want to take 5 minutes and be out the door. Long hair may be a pain in the butt sometimes but I really do like the options it gives.

    Awww...

Please someone tell us the advantages of having short hair! I really need to hear that!

I am about to get my hair cut very short because I have decided to donate it to Locks of Love; haven't had a hair cut since December 2007 to get it long enough (they require at least 10 inches).

It has been a hard decision as I have had long hair for the past 15 years and my hair is such a big part of the way I look (because of its unruly nature).

It can't be so bad, right? There are many famous ladies around with shorter hair: http://theglamourouslife.com/wp-cont.../celebrity.jpg

So, come on! Please do share your fond memories of short hair!

Aww, Scher, doing it for that cause is reason enough. I really admire your willingness to do that, it's something you should be very proud of and remember, ti always grows back...although sometimes that is a very long and painful process...but still, it grows back.
