I believe that the French call this pastry a Croissant, Themis. They are kind of a lighter bread roll or something? My hubby dips those in gravy, soup, actually anything that can be a dip, he uses...

I am sipping Jasmine Green Tea and eyeing a nice ripe pear over yonder (but if I partake, Pepper, my dog will come along and demand half...)

In a way it is a croissant but we differ between "Kipferl" and "croissant". The latter is the french's version is made of a different kind of dough (Puff pastry? It's called "Butterteig" in German.) while a "Kipferl" is made of short pastry.

    A croissant looks like this:

Err ... and the only thing we dip it - the kipferl - in is coffee. Or cocoa.

On my way back from the closed library (some sort of public holiday! Not impressed) I found a little shop which caters almond croissants. I'm hoping I won't get addicted to them now......

Thanks, Themis! I think I could easily get into these things! Do you make your own at home? They look like they'd be murder to make (you may recall that I am not one to enjoy the fine art of cuisine...lol!).

Right now I am enjoying a bowl of chicken noodle soup, a tall glass of OJ (orange juice), and a peanut butter sandwich.

@kiz_paws: No, we don't make our own. It'd be too time-consuming.
