I read Frankenstein twice; guess I will have to read Dracula one of these days. Everyone says it is so great.

I actually started just a little while ago, and have not read very mush yet, still it is very good starting off, Janine, so I think the entire book will be just as good.

Asa, definitely a fine read. It will captivate you. I still does me and I have thought of buying the book on tape to listen to. Kenneth Branagh narrates the book. I have it in my "wish list" on Amazon and will buy one of these days, or the CD versions. Only saw the tapes so far, but they are abridged. Since I read the book twice that would be ok just to listen to key parts. It is so well written.

Yes, I think you should read too. It is very good reading. I really enjoyed it when I read it for first time and still enjoy it when I am rereading it. And, of course, it is a perfect example for gothic novel. But I have to warn you - even with all these characteristics, I think Frankenstein is better.

    HI

"The Age of Innocence" would be really nice

although it was a close choice between it and "Ethan Frome"

    Absolutely Ethan Frome...
For Asa, I preferred so much the coppola film rather than the book, if you didn't watch it, i recommend it to you.

I am confused - do you mean the film directed by Coppola of "Dracula"? Coppola was also the producer on the Kenneth Branagh film of "Frankenstein". I liked both films, but thought they both had dire flaws. I think I would prefer the book to the film of "Dracula". Branagh's Frankenstein would have been good had he stuck with the original book and written the script closer to it; he seemed to want to make it both "Frankenstein" and "Bride of F". Not sure why he went off in that direction at all. Who could improve on the original plot? Maybe it would have been too long. I still find both films highly entertaining, if you see them for what they are.

So will Ethan Frome be the book for next month's reading? Anybody know for sure?

I was quite disappointed bu the Coppola's version of Dracula. I expected something better.

I think the next month's reading will be Ethan Frome. As you can see for now the results are 14 votes for this book. I have even already start reading it, so I could menage till April (I am reading it through DailyLit, so I need more time for it).

Since it is leading the poll, it seems likely that we will be reading it in April; however, we cannot know for sure till March 31st, when the poll closes (you can see the deadline on top of the poll).
