how come your English sounds so near-native like when you've only spent a week there? Can Czech English teachers work miracles?????

Exactly what I thought when I first found out that Jay was not a native speaker. She speaks (types? ) English so well that I couldn't believe she was not a native speaker and then couldn't help wondering at the Czech education system but, I think, a lot of credit goes to Jay herself.

She is a natural when it comes to languages!

*gasp* you had English in elementary school????? wuuuuuargh, that's so unfair over here it's still being introduced and they are retraining elementary school teachers who never studied English. So the kids pick up attrocious accents from them.

Maybe I am just a bit numb as to what goes on outside the states, but I always wondered how the whole english class idea went on...like, if German kids studied German grammar, Japanese studied Japanese grammar, and English kids learned English grammar...or if there were countries that studied English...sorry...my brain is farting.
