Larry made it just in time to join us on our trip to Surfside Beach. We were actually going to North Myrtle Beach, but the place we rented was filthy so we found ourselves an open room at Surfside Beach, which only a few miles away. Here's what Larry has been up to:

Larry looks at the Atlantic Ocean from the balcony of our sixth floor room at the Holiday Inn. We would have gone down to the beach, but blow-off from tropical storm Fay was stirring up some major wind at the South Carolina beaches. Some people seemed oblivious to the sand storm, but I didn't like having sand blowing into my eyes and skin so we decided to take our party up to the balcony instead. Larry was fine that.

On our last full day at Surfside, it rained on and off all day (more on than off), so we sat in the hotel room for a while trying to figure out what we should do instead of lazing on the beach. Larry finds the Souvenir Salt Water Taffy purchased from one of the many souvenir/beach gear shops that line highway 17 from Garden City to Myrtle Beach, and he is eager to give it a try. Larry agrees that the taffy is not that great, but out of boredom he eats piece after piece of the wretched stuff.

After eating way too much taffy, Larry is bouncing off the wall and desperately wants to go down to the beach. I was reluctant to take him down the beach because I knew that as soon as we got down there it would start to rain again, since the rain showers were lasting longer than the rain-free intermissions. Instead we venture out to the balcony again to do some serious people watching. Unfortunately, there is no one on the beach except the lifeguard, who apparently is required to stay at his post even when no one is in the water. To pass the time, the lifeguard builds a sandcastle, and hyperactive Larry sneaks into the photo as I try to snap the picture of the lifeguard and his sandcastle. That little speck there that you can barely see is the lifeguard (I forgot to turn on the Zoom function :goof:).

yeah, you're next as far as I know. He's pretty bored with me now since I've kind of been wrapped up with school and I'm behind with that anyway so I guess go ahead and PM me your address.

But, papayahed said something about a CD that she didn't send with Larry because I was rushing her on it so I was thinking I needed to wait on that before I shipped him off. I don't know though.

I might come up with some Larry activities to make up for the boredom of the past week and I'll get some new pictures up even if they are just lameness around my house with homework and stuff.

Finally Larry is on his way to Weisinheimer. Sorry it took so long. I meant to send him weeks ago. First I had trouble with the CD and couldn't write my files to it. Maybe it's full or something. Anyway, I didn't have any CDs of my own so I kept meaning to go out and buy some, and then forgot, and then I got sick. I think it might have been food poisoning, because if it had been a virus, my husband would have come down with it but he hasn't. Larry was in a box in a room i never went in while sick, so hopefully, if it was a virus, I didn't go mailing that off!!! :eek: Seriously, I think I just had a case of food poisoning though.

Anyway, I have some final pictures taken before the great illness, so here they are:

That was fast!! I just put him in on Saturday. Must have been that "Priority" box I had it in...it all makes sense now. That explains why the postage was so high!! :lol:

There are now 2 Larry CD's and if there is a problem with the second disc let me know. I put my files on one disc and then there was another disc and I was in a hurry and I'm afraid I may have mailed you a blank disc now, because I found a disc on the shelf and it had Larry in Tennessee files on it...that's typical of me.

Great shots of Larry in DC, Weisenheimer! I like the ones of him by the Washington monument and the Dept. of Agriculture, and I'm glad he got to go to a Johnny Rockets during his American travels. Niamh--Hoorah! a year of travels for Larry. I've just been lecturing on New World exploration in the Renaissance this week, and I think he's travelling at roughly the same pace as a 17th century explorer thus far. :D Glad he's taking his time to do a real old fashioned world tour and soak it all in. :banana::banana::banana:

Rest of the rules/guidelines are simple

Poo! I will have you kbnow my intenet is rubbish! but my new flat looks like it will be sorted hopefully by the end of next week. Builders have been working around the clock the last couple of days and I noticed today plumbing and electric is done and they have sealed up the walls. All that is left is laying tiles and painting oh and putting in windows and a bathroom, but then I finally have a home for the next 3 years. At which point internet becomes a major priority. :D


Ok so far Ullie has been to Ireland, several airports in the UK, Istanbul, he has done a couple of ramdany things here in Egypt. Next weekend he is going to the north caost to celebrate Eid, then in the next few weeks he will see the Egyptian tourist sites that it has been too hot and I have been too busy fasting to see. Also he will meet the kids at my school. He should be ready to move on early October.
