So i noticed this thread Troll (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12362&page=14) and i assume that the troll has now found itself on a green peace boat up in the artic somewhere, and i was wondering if everyone was up to doing a new round the world trip?
How about a Leprechaun this time?:p

Anyone Interested in sending a Leprechaun around the world?:(
Weisinheimer
10-16-2007, 02:44 PM
sounds like fun. Let's do it.
Niamh
10-16-2007, 02:52 PM
Excellent Weisen! Because its a leprechaun from Ireland, Maybe we can take snaps of it beside the traditional beverage of each country it visits and post it here? I can start off with it beside a Guinness!:p
Weisinheimer
10-16-2007, 02:57 PM
hmmm, guess I'd better find out if Maryland has traditional beverage. Maybe crab juice?:p
So, who else will join us?
Granny5
10-16-2007, 03:55 PM
a leprechaun couldn't visit Arkansas without a sip of moonshine.
Niamh

I take it you are in then Granny?;)
Granny5
10-16-2007, 04:14 PM
Never played, but I'll try!
Niamh
10-16-2007, 04:16 PM
All we do is post a leprechaun to each other and take a pic of us with the leprechaun(and beverage) and pass it on to next litnetter. :) Hopefully unlike the Troll this one wont get lost in the post!:p
Granny5
10-16-2007, 04:22 PM
Well, don't know if I can get my hands on real moonshine but I'll try...the leprechaun would have to take a few days off to recover if he drinks too much of it though.
Niamh

I'll give it a whirl but I'm not going first - I showed Trolly all over Kansas only to get lost in the mail...I went to the farmers Hall of Fame for Pete's sake.
Shalot
10-16-2007, 10:02 PM
So if I wanted to play, I would just PM Niamh and tell her the city and state I live in? And then some little leprachan statue comes to me in the mail one day and I take pictures of it next to a home brew for example and then post it and pass it on? Or is there just a journal that comes with the troll of pics and what not of where the troll has been?
Niamh
10-17-2007, 05:33 AM
The Troll had a travel journal didnt it? So yeah maybe we could give the leprechaun a journal to say what he got up to, what he drank, and what he saw.(maybe even what you thought of him?:p )But i'd put your shiny things away. He is a leprechaun after all so ho does like gold! :brow:
Shalot what i'll do is(and what i'm sure they did the last time) comprise a list of all the people taking part, and who ever is in the list before you you sent your address to.
eg. Papaya
Shalot(send your address to papaya)
Granny 5
But if everyone can just say what part of the world or what part of the states they are from i'll be able to do an acurate enough list, so that Larry the Leprechaun isnt going back and forth too much!
As for the photos it would be nice to post them in the thread as well as maybe on a disc in the journal.:)
I'll give it a whirl but I'm not going first - I showed Trolly all over Kansas only to get lost in the mail...I went to the farmers Hall of Fame for Pete's sake.
I'll kep you somewhere near the end then Papaya!

It sounds like fun. Count me in. Who do I send my address to?
I'm in Arkansas near the Missouri State line. I could take him to
the Country Music Capital, Branson, Mo. to see all the neon.
And we could go spelunking here in the Arkansas Ozarks and
maybe happen onto a moonshine still. We'll have to watch out
for revenewers!

Hi all--Would love to take part, but I live in two places--Chicago and California. There is, of course the advantage that if the Leprachaun arrived at an advantageous time I could tour him 'round Chicago and then fly him out to the west coast, which might possibly save on the postage for some California person. Hey, Niamh, can we see a picture of this little guy? I'm a little picky about who I'm seen having drinks with. :p
Weisinheimer
10-17-2007, 12:01 PM
Yeah, a picture of our world traveller would be cool, that way we'd be sure it was him when he arrives. I live in Maryland, btw. I could show him around Baltimore or Washington DC
Niamh
10-17-2007, 02:33 PM
He's on a tour around dublin airport at the moment. (i.e. Sleeping in my work bag) but i'll post a pic of the little guy either later on or tomorrow. By the looks of things the little leprechaun is going to have a fantastic tour around America!(come on europe and aisa!):p I was thinking it would be a nice idea that we each put a post card in with him for the next person. ie when i post him to the first person i'll add a postcard of ireland in it for them to keep, then when they send him on they add a postcard for the next unfortunate receipiant to hold on to. What do you think? that way we all get something from it.(even if it is a postcard!)

But, Niamh, I have never been to a pub, only seen in movies how it is inside. Would Larry mind if I take him to other places, or offer drinks like tea, coffee or a soft-drink?
I think that is what we have to do when he arrives, isn't it? and post a picture too, of what he has been doing?
Niamh
10-20-2007, 03:00 PM
It doesnt have to be a pub or an alcoholic drink. A nice cup of tea in india would be great! I'm Jealous now.:( The Leprechaun gets to go to india and meet you but i dont!!!:bawling: You can bring him where ever you want. He is a tourist after all!:p Its great to have you on board!

Glad to hear that Larry's almost set to start his global pub crawl. Looks pretty happy with his Guinness. I'll look forward to seeing the little guy's adventures in NYC with Virg. By the way, Niamh, how long do you think his transatlantic journey will be? I'm trying to gauge whether I'll be in Chicago or California by the time he's finished his New York tour since I seem to be second on the list. If the timing's right he may to get to go to both the Sears Tower and Disneyland. :)
Niamh
11-02-2007, 06:47 AM
He should be off to NY on monday. I'm registaring the package so i can make sure it gets there. Should be with Virgil a few days later i recon. When do you plan to head to Calif? The reason why i put you second was for that two spot reason. Also if you were in chicago, you were close enough to virg, in Calif, many of the others are from southern countries. I was trying to keep him in somekind of organised line.:)

Oh, I don't leave for CA until December 10th, so if it only takes him a couple days to make his international sojourn he should have plenty of time to have a good visit in New York and get to the windy city while I'm still here and then make the trip to California. Wasn't sure if he was catching a flight or hitching a ride on a slow boat that might take a few weeks. If it were the latter there might not have been enough time. Hope he has all his immigration papers in order, otherwise Virg. might have to take him on a tour through Ellis Island just to get him in the country.
many of the others are from southern countries
I think you mean states. Though I suppose there are some southerners who will still claim they won the Civil War. :D

Hey, this could work out really well if Adorero Dio is in Ventura. I'm planning a trip up to Santa Barbara sometime just after Christmas. Maybe I could just drop Larry off in Ventura along the way (at a coffee shop or some appropriately public place of course). Well, Mrs Virgil thought he was weird but went along. The other guests found his conversation stimulating. After one glass of Merlot, Larry (he is rather small and one full glass for his body weight was too much) couldn't keep quiet. He was the life of the party, telling us about his home island. We live on an island here too, Staten Island, and New York probably has as many people of Irish descent as Ireland. He was fascinated with that. Of course when he started singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and "Danny Boy" while doing a jig on the table, we had to tell him to take a rest and he went off to bed. ;)

I should get him to Petrarch by mid December or so. I'm planning a trip into Manhattan next weekend where I'll take some pictures of Larry with the sites. Just so you keep in mind, Virg., I'm leaving Chicago on December 10th, so he'll only be able to visit both Chicago and California if you ship him in time for him to arrive before that date, and preferably before the 8th so I can have the weekend to show him the windy city. If you ship him priority right after next weekend though, it should only take him a couple days to get here (he looks light enough, that I would imagine there isn't much of a difference between the regular and priority rate). Hope he enjoys his trip to Manhattan.
Hope all three of you enjoy the show. Hopefully Larry will behave himself.

Hooray! Larry performed magic this week!!!! I told him we had tickets for Spamalot and that he was going to go, but unfortunately the Broadway stagehands have been on strike for over two weeks and it looked like it was never going to get resolved. We were never going to get to go and Larry has to move on to Petrarch in a few days. Larry on Tuesday said in that wonderful Irish brogue he has, "Let me see what i can do," and with that poof he was gone and returned late last night all in triumphant glory. He told me, and this is just a secret for us here on lit net, he tossed his magic dust over the Broadway producers and the union heads and poof they came to an agreement. Of course the newspapers don't know how Larry interceded, but we in NY are completely in his debt. :) Check out the articles:
STAGE WAS SET FOR B'WAY WAR HEADLINERS:
Renee Nowytarger
Performers from "A Chorus Line" are ready to kick up their heels yesterday over the good news in yesterday's Post.
November 30, 2007 -- THE 19-day strike that shut down Broadway was costly - and inevitable.
Given what both sides were after - the producers to remake the ancient economics of the theater; the union to safeguard its very existence - the stage was set long ago for a brutal collision. [SNIP] http://www.nypost.com/seven/11302007/news/columnists/stage_was_set_for_bway_war_181873.htm

BRAVOS GALORE AS LIGHTS GO UP
By LUCY CARNE and ANDY GELLER
Back to BroadwayAll hands were back to work after an agreement was reached to end the strike.
November 30, 2007 -- The ticket lines replaced the picket lines on the Great White Way yesterday - and everyone was ecstatic.
Stagehands and producers, actors and musicians, shopkeepers and even scalpers were all smiles a day after the curtain fell on the 19-day stagehand strike.
"When I heard it was over, I thought, 'Oh, my God, I have to chase some tickets," said Brazilian tourist Rita Silva, 36, who was first in line at the Times Square TKTS booth.
An hour before the booth opened at 3 p.m., 120 people were standing in line. Silva was desperate for ducats to "Mamma Mia!"
The strike, which ended at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, shuttered 26 plays and musicals for almost three weeks, costing the city an estimated $38 million. [SNIP] http://www.nypost.com/seven/11302007/news/regionalnews/bravos_galore_as_lights_go_up_14245.htm

Virgil, are you sure Larry doesn't just look drunk normally? He sure smiles a lot. :D I hope someday he can come to visit me, I could use some of that magic dust. Was he born in Ireland? :p I came in on this thread a little late, so fill me in. I don't have the energy to read all posts tonight.
Great, Virgil - that is right, once again your birthday is nearing; coming back around, another year to add onto our ages...ugh. Let's see what nice things I can come up with this year for your birthday thread. I have some ideas on that, but will think of more, before the glorious day arrives.

Where has Larry been already? It looks like all the travel is starting to take its toll on him. His strained smile and unruly hair make him look like he's in the manic swing of his bi-polar disorder. Perhaps it's only his sunny disposition overpowering his composure, but he doesn't seem like he has it together. I wonder when he's going to have his board his next flight. Where is he going, next? Janine is close. I would suggest you send him my way, but I think Petrarch would intercept him. At least that would be for the best. I think the part of Illinois she lives in is much more interesting than the cornfield I see out my window.

Virgil, Wow, Larry sure did have a blast in the Big Apple! He looked so jubilent in each and every picture. I didn't realise what a little 'pee wee' he is and so cute; he mustn't weigh much; he looks like a feather-weight! The big city really dwarfed the little feller. He was totally in his element, amidst all that magic and glamour in the air at Christmas time, there in the big city and it certainly was appropriate and thoughful of him when he cleared the skating rink for the proposal of the nice young couple (my son proposed in NYC at the Today Show - well actually outside but there was a crowd). Larry did seem to be indicating that he would like a Guiness; his tiny expressive arms were reaching for the sign. Funny how, given different environments, Larry has such different expressions that just seem to fit the situation - he truly is magical!
It looks like you might have to get a permanent Larry for Brandy, she looks totally enamoured and will miss him when he has to leave.
By the way, Virgil, your photos are just great! It must have been so much fun in NY on Saturday! Thanks for posting them and sharing so many.

playing with the bird:

Finally I was getting a bit worn out and fortunately remembered that since he's a Lit. Net leprechaun he probably likes to read, so I set him up with a book. He seems to be quiet and content for the moment resting from his journey and reading my copy of the Kelmscott Chaucer:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryReadingChaucer.jpg
We should have a fun evening and tomorrow I may take him to see the University with me (perhaps his leprechaun magic can help me transport some of the piles of library books that need to go back before I leave town). Saturday he gets to go sightseeing around downtown Chicago. We'll keep you posted on the further adventures of Larry!

Larry went with me to campus this afternoon and had a grand time. He even ran into one of our numerous Nobel prize winning economists in the elevator, since the econ. department is on the floor just below the English department. The laureate in question was curious as to what I was doing with a leprechaun peeking out of my pocket but highly resistant to the idea of being photographed with my companion (I'm sure this just served as more fodder for our sober minded economists to gossip about those crazy literary people they share a building with). Larry predicts that the Chicago school of economics will soon be down on its luck for snubbing a photo op. with such a fine leprechaun.
Instead he had fun exploring the library while I returned some books. The librarian nixed flash photography, but I still got a sort of dark and fuzzy shot of him in one of the reading rooms:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryinHarper.jpg
Then he got a tour of campus and he kept gleefully leaping into snowbanks everywhere we went:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryinMainQuad.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryinHarperQuad.jpg
Indeed, his first taste of snow in New York evidently got him really excited, because he insisted that we stop at a park on the way home so that he could build himself a snowman. He was so proud when he finished that I had to take a picture:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandSnowman.jpg
After spending all that time playing in the 25 degree weather, however, he was awfully cold, so I gave him a thimble of whiskey to warm the bones:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrywithWhiskey.jpg
Right now he's full of whiskey and pep, and dancing a little jig around the apartment. Hopefully he'll settle down and get some rest soon before he goes to see downtown Chicago tomorrow.

Yep, it snowed Tuesday night, all the day Wednesday, and then a little more last night, so we've got a nice five or six inches lying around. It looks like a winter wonderland around here: just beautiful. We're supposed to get more over the weekend. I just hope it stops in time for me to fly out Monday.
PS: That whiskey bottle does not look open at all! Are you sure it is whiskey that you are giving him?
As for the whiskey bottle, it's true that the bottle pictured is as yet unopened, but only because Larry hadn't gotten to that one yet. He polished off an old bottle first and was getting set to have seconds. ;) It's also actually Scotch rather than Irish whiskey, but Larry seemed happy to drink whatever I had on hand. :D

Glad you like the pics. Yes, I should have hidden the Johnnie Walker last night. Larry dipped his thimble a few too many times, and kept me up into the wee hours dancing on the piano again while lustily singing every imaginable verse of "Whiskey in the Jar." Around 1 am he wanted to go running out into the night to share a drink with his mate the snowman, but fortunately he toppled over on the way to the door and I tucked him in bed to sleep it off. It took a rather large cup of tea to get him going again this morning:

Well, Larry and I had a great day out on the town, and took lots of pictures despite the gray and snowy/sleety weather this afternoon. We started out at the Art Institute where Larry first posed at the base of one of the giant lion statues out front (you can just make him out toward the left side of the base of the statue):
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandLion.jpg
I got Larry in free with my museum membership, and he was very excited to see all the famous artwork. We even got some shots of him next to some of the museum's best known paintings. By Seurat's "La Grande Jatte":

Picasso's "Guitar Player":

Here's Larry trying his best to cheer up the subjects of Wood's "American Gothic":

After viewing the collections we had lunch at the museum restaurant where Larry shared in my wonderful dessert (white chocolate and peppermint mousse on Chocolate cake):

...and in Millenium Park with the Frank Gehry amphitheatre in the background:

Larry loved the reflective sculpture, known as "The Bean" which sits in the middle of the park:

Then it was up to my favorite spot by the river on the Michigan Avenue bridge. Larry by the Wrigley building:

To cap off the day, we went to my favorite place in Chicago for drinks at the top of the Hancock building: 96 floors up with a view commanding the whole city of Chicago. Unfortunately the pics of the view came out fuzzy, but here's what the building looks like from below:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandHancockBuilding.jpg
And, as the drink symbolic of Chicago sophistication, here's Larry enjoying a gin martini:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandMartini.jpg
After his martini Larry went dancing in the streets:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryintheCitybyNight.jpg
He got so tired out that he practically collapsed into his seat on the bus and was pretty quiet on the ride home:

Yeah, I asked before I took any pictures and they said to go ahead as long as I didn't use flash. Since I go up there all the time I had never tried taking pictures of the art before, and was surprised that they were so easy going about it.

Some stuff would've been OK to do right now, but there were other places/things that I wanted him to experience here that would've been a lot more fun in the spring/summer. Actually, I live in Wisconsin. Approximately 90 miles north of the Windy City. Brew City, in fact. ;) That is a fairly quick trip no matter how you're traveling. :)
I think it is too bad if everyone is starting to think that Larry would only want to see the bigger cities. After all, this is his first trip to America, right? America has many other places to see other than cities. Maybe he would've liked the relaxation of something a little quieter.

A mixture of city and nature? In our town? HA! Now, drive about thirty minutes away and you will find some semblance of nature in the mountains of Ojai, but not in Ventura. Unless you count the trees the government planted along the side of the road as nature. The beach works- but even there you can tell you are near a trash producing city. And I like cities that are like Downtown- but those are more like towns. Even though our downtown is filled with scary homeless people and smokers to a point I can hardly breath.
And the city is okay to visit...for a very short while and in the right cities it can be exciting. But I've been poisoned by Cali cities- smog, traffic, trash on the sidewalk, loud noises, shouting and cursing, etc. It's not the same as the bright lights and and crowded streets with people calling taxis, that you see in movies. Take Hollywood for example...I've been there twice and plan to never go back if I can help it. It is a scary place with no bright lights or smiling faces. It's no wonder that when you see pics of Hollywood all you see is the gigantic sign on the side of the mountain and the Hollywood walk of fame. Places like New York and Washington are different, and Philadelphia too, they are beautiful and you do get that excitement about being around so many people, but other cities....I choose not to be around them much.

Are you kidding me?! We've got hills to hike in! The beach! (I realize you mentioned the latter.) They're plenty of nature. Not too much, not too little. We have the snowy mountains 45 minutes away from us, remember?!
But I must admit downtown has gotten worse over the years. I don't remember it being so disgusting. But I still adore it down there. We gotta take a picture of all of us in front of city hall with the ocean in the backround. How can you not like it here?! This is secret paradise! This is defintely not a big city like L.A. and that's why I like it.
You know, L.A. really isn't that bad. Hollywood is wonderful. You forgot the Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Park. And Santa Barbara is such a pretty city. You have to admit that. It's not smoggy at all. It's just a quaint little Spanish city. It's all about visiting big cities, not living in them. :D I could never do that. Except Santa Barbara because it isn't really a big city with tall buildings. :D Just a bit more urban.

Hi all! Larry and I arrived safely in California despite weather delays at O'Hare and yucky turbulence on the flight. Larry didn't seem to mind the airport delay, though. In fact he was really excited that it gave him the opportunity to sample some true American cuisine:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrywithMcDonalds.jpg
Now that he's in California he's decided to blend in with the locals. He's been running around in a pool robe and oversize sunglasses, which he refuses to take off even when (like now) it's dark out:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryArrivesinCA.jpg
He's also made planning difficult because every time I ask him about what he wants to do around Orange County he tells me to have my "people" call his "people." It's getting a bit annoying. All the same, I've got some great things to do on the agenda. Tomorrow he's accompanying me to Pasadena to see the Huntington museum and gardens, and Sunday I'm going up to L.A. to see a friend, and there may be time for a few photo opportunities en route. Next week a friend of mine who works at Disneyland may or may not be able to sign Larry in for free to go on a few rides. We'll have to see. After that he'll be set to go see bella Ventura.

I'm with Lilly, I can't believe you're talking about Ventura here. It may have some of the detractions of any place inhabited by a certain number of human beings, but it's such a wonderful town compared to the vast majority of towns out there, and that area of the coast from Ventura up to Santa Barbara is really paradise. I'd kill to live in that area again. L.A., on the other hand really is a pretty ugly city. Only the ocean and the weather make up for the otherwise hideousness of large stretches of Los Angeles.

Huntington! Oh, he will enjoy tat. Lily took me with her there for her birthday and it is gorgeous. And the roses! Love it, love it, love it!
I'm so glad he's being introduced to "real American cuisine"
Can't wait till he's here! Does that mean he will be with me for Christmas? That would be really cool- if so I'll have to put a present under the tree for him. :D
Note to everyone who is disturbed by my comments about Ventura- I wasn't putting Ventura down, I really do like Ventura, I was putting down big cities. And Ventura is messy but I LOVE the ocean and I LOVE watching the sunset on the beach and seeing the islands on clear days. I love sailing on the deep blue sea and seeing dolphins jump along side the boat. That is what I love about California, not the cities. So, I apologize to city of Ventura and all those who know it's a wonderful city.

Unfortunately Larry accidentally got left behind for the trip to the Huntington yesterday, but we made up for it today when I ended up going to see a friend for lunch in Los Angeles. First he got a little tour of the UCLA campus. Here's Larry by Royce Hall:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryatUCLA.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrybyRoyceHall.jpg
...and both outside and inside the Powell Library:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandPowellLibrary.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryinPowell--UCLA.jpg
After seeing UCLA we walked down to Westwood where Larry posed by the historic Fox Theatre, which has been the site of many glamorous movie premieres for about seventy years:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrybyFoxTheatre.jpg
He also posed by a California Pizza Kitchen:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrybyCPK.jpg
...but he opted for another popular California meal instead--Sushi:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandSushi.jpg
Finally in the evening we ended up doing some shopping on Rodeo Drive. Larry wanted to go on a shopping spree in all the most expensive stores, but luckily he left his credit card back in Dublin:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryonRodeo.jpg
Oh God. I thought I had instilled in Larry some New York values. I see he's all of a sudden gone Hollywood.
It's only getting worse! On Rodeo Dr. today he bought this ridiculous silk sleeping mask, and now he's told me to keep everything quiet because he needs his beauty rest:

Petra and Virgil, have you guys been having problems with the disc? I've been trying to use the rest of the batch that that came from and they are all faulty.:(
I haven't tried loading pics on myself yet, but the ones you and Virg. took show up fine.
Can't wait till he's here! Does that mean he will be with me for Christmas? That would be really cool- if so I'll have to put a present under the tree for him. :D
I'm not sure if he'll make Christmas or not, especially because the mail is bound to be congested if I try to send him out late next week close to the holidays. There might also be less chance of him getting lost if I don't attempt to send him just a few days before Christmas. The good news is that it looks like Disneyland may definitely be on for next week. Then we'll play it by ear as to a good time to ship him.
Well, I figured no one could actually dislike Ventura. It's true that cities in general have their downsides (as someone who just recently emerged from the hell that is L.A. traffic in the late rush hour, I can firmly attest to this). I agree with you that the ocean is the truly great thing about California. :)

Being a literary leprechaun, he was of course drawn to the lit. crit. The sleep mask once belonged to one of my dolls (since I stay in my childhood room at home in CA I thought I'd dig out some old miniature accessories from the back of the closet for Larry's use while here). It also came with a matching robe that unfortunately didn't fit.
Goodness Virgil and B-Mental! You sound like those adolescent college students who try to disrupt the class by saying things calculated to shock the teacher. And to think just last night I was telling my brother and parents--who were curious about the origins of their leprechaun houseguest--what nice and respectable people there are on Lit. Net. Larry has been sleeping in the guest room, is slumbering as innocently as any child in the picture in question, is not tied up in any way, and has comported himself like a perfect--if occasionally tipsy--gentleman. :D
Californiaq pizza. I should have taken him to a New York pizzaria. Actually I should have taken him to Little Italy and had the best Italian meal one can have outside of Italy.
 Come to think of it, I should have given him some Chicago style pizza. We Californians can't make any reasonable pizza claims to fame, but I suspect some Chicago places could give New York a decent run for its money. ;)
Sushi??? Leprechuans don't eat sushi. You're going to get him sick.

A few pics from Larry's experience of Orange County nightlife last night. First he went with me and my family to South Coast Reperatory theater for their annual production of A Christmas Carol. Here he is by a sign for the play:

Afterward we went to my favorite Mexican food restaurant. Here's Larry posed by one of the murals in the restaurant sporting his new sombrero for the occasion:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryinDonJoses.jpg
Since he's supposed to sample a drink characteristic of each place he goes, I figured he couldn't go wrong with one of the best margaritas in Southern California:

Well, i thought it would be better that way after i looked at the map of the states. I had originally been trying to keep it in order of proximity and for some daft reason (dont ask me why!) i thought Louisiana was a little farther east and maryland on top with Ten- side by side to that......
Then when i finally looked at a map, i realised that Arkansas and Ten- were right above Louisiana and maryland was miles way and further up the east coast that i had thought, and out of the three, Ten- was actually closest.
Thats when i decided it would probably be best to head to Arkansas after Calif as planned then drop down into Louisiana, back up into Ten- and then up and over into Maryland....( or from Ten- up to Wisconsin to Lady Wenthworth if she wants and then bsck down to Weisen.)
Do you see my point?
And what leason have i learned? Always consult a map before making a list!!!!!
Sorry B! You will probably get him a little sooner than expected! But remember. He is still with Petra and still has to go to Adorero (and lily by the looks of it) and granny5. I'd say late Jan early feb for you. :)

Love the travel map. Larry's excited about it too. It'll be so much fun to track his course.
I have some pics from a trip to the beach and our trip to Disneyland today, but I'm a bit tired tonight so I won't upload them until tomorrow. Meanwhile, Larry's stay in Huntington Beach is drawing to a close and A.D. has already sent me the address for his next destination. My schedule's packed tomorrow and I doubt I'll have time to get to the post, and the Post Office may be a zoo Saturday (besides I think Larry would rather be in a home rather than a padded envelope in a letter office on Christmas), but if I'm not able to get him out Saturday I'll definitely mail him up to Ventura as soon as possible after Christmas at a rate that will be sure to get him to Adorero Dio in time for New Year's celebrations. He's looking forward to hitting the road again!

O.K. I had a window of time this evening in which to upload the recent Larry pictures. Yesterday Larry got to go to Disneyland, and he had a grand time. He really fit in because they're used to animated characters around there. Here he is by the flowers in the shape of Mickey's face and the train station at the entrance to the park:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryatDisneyEntrance.jpg
Another shot of him by the statue of Walt Disney and Mickey:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrywithDisneyandMickey.jpg
A few in front of the castle, which looked great decorated for Christmas:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandD-LandCastle.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandD-LandCastle2.jpg
Larry by Snow White's Wishing Well ensuring that it's in good working order with a little Leprechaun magic:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryatSnowWhitesWishingWell.jpg
Larry excited about going on the Matterhorn ride:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrybyMatterhorn.jpg
And here's a shot of Larry by the miniature replica of Toad Hall from the Wind in the Willows on the Storybook Land ride. The ride has all sorts of miniature houses surrounded by real trees that grow to scale. The pine tree that's decorated to the right of the house is an actual miniature pine that grows there and is probably no more than about 7 or 8 inches tall, and the house itself is maybe about a foot and a half high. All the other surrounding plants are real too. Larry seemed to think the scale was just right for a Leprechaun:

And, since I didn't get a chance to post them earlier, here are some pictures of Larry's first trip to a California beach. When we first arrived all he wanted to do is sit on the lifeguard tower and act like he was on "Baywatch," but he quickly figured out that it wasn't exciting as it is on T.V.:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarrytheLifeguard.jpg
Since he had already exercised his sculptural skills in the snow, he thought he would try a new medium and was quite proud to produce his first sand castle:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandSandcastle.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandSandcastle2.jpg
After that he was tired out so he put out his beach umbrella and lay out for several hours while blasting music on his Larry sized radio:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryOntheBeach.jpg
Later on he posed by this statue of a surfer, which seemed appropriate since Huntington Beach is the city the Beach Boys based the song "Surf City" on:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryandSurferStatue.jpg
He finished the day with a nice sunset stroll along the shore. That's the Huntington Beach pier in the background:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/LarryOnBeachSunset.jpg
And so Larry goes off into the sunset for now to make preparations for his further California adventures with Adorero Dio.

And those pics made me curious about the USA which is so weird because it's not a place in my to-visit list! Impressive!

 Wow, Hollywood's done their best in films, but pics of Larry are what really make a person curious about the U.S. Clearly a bit of leprechaun magic at work. :D Seriously though, it is true that this country is huge and, as I'm sure you'll see as Larry continues his adventures, has an absolutely mind blowing variety of places, many of them really worth seeing. I must say I find it pretty amazing myself that I routinely travel back and forth between skyscrapers among drifts of snow and Spanish style architecture along sun soaked beaches, all within my native land. California in and of itself is pretty neat, since I could enjoy a day of sunny temperate weather today walking under green palms by the sea, while some friends of mine drove a mere two hours from where I am to the local mountains and went skiing among the pines. Gotta love this place. Let me know if the the USA ever makes the to-visit list. :)

I'm sure you'll find lots of great things to do. The beach there is so beautiful, and Larry's dying to get back to the shore and try executing an even more grandiose sandcastle. If I'm remembering right you guys have one of the missions too, and certainly a fair amount of quaint historic mission style architecture scattered about. Not to mention you'll have him for New Year's, and Larry's always highly photogenic at parties. He's really looking forward to coming to Ventura. :)

Yes, Larry's been working hard on his tan. California seems to agree with him.

I actually think that Hollywood is what has put me off the USA  If I managed to forget all the Hollywood movies I've seen and all the TV series and all, maybe I'd start planning my trip to the USA ;)

The thing you have to do is find the unique cool thing about your world...It might be your school, your dog, your park, maybe your friends...Larry will give you ideas when he gets there. Just keep looking for things when he arrives, and please, PLEASE don't lose him.

Well, Larry took off for Ventura today in Priority Certified style. He should be with Adorero Dio in just a couple of days. Let us know when he arrives! I must say that I'll miss the little guy. Parting is such sweet sorrow. :bawling: :D
While Larry's on his way, I thought I'd post some of the pics I took of him on Christmas Eve. He started out in a Religious mood, going to visit the manger scene along with the shepherds and wise men:

Then he wanted to check out the Christmas tree:

And the Christmas table:

After spending this much time with Larry, I knew that the sight of him in an empty wine glass was bound to mean trouble ahead:

Soon we found him sitting up in the middle of the Christmas tree lustily singing carols:

Shortly thereafter he started riding around the tree in circles among the presents on one of Santa's miniature reindeer:

Finally he ended up singing in the streets of the miniature Dickens Christmas Village we have out for the holidays. First he caroused by the castle and observatory:

Then he ended up sitting down between the Old Curiosity Shop and the Post Office:

That reminded him of the real Post Office and was the only way we ever got him to get in some sleep so that he'd be up for packing for his trip up to Ventura. Looking forward to seeing what he gets up to on New Year's, A.D. :)
