Oh come on, everybody has one!
For me it's the always lovely Maria Sharapova who just recently won her second tennis grandslam title and looked stunning in the process. Not only is she just a year and a half older than me (makes the possibility seem somewhat realistic... ) she looks absolutely stunning and so unbelievably cute when shes interviewed :D .

Oh come on, how could you not love her?

Anyways, what are some of the other celebrity crushes which exist around the board?

Had one for a while as a child on Amy Jo Johnson. Right now, I think Emma Watson's pretty and potentially interesting to know, but I've hit a point where I try to avoid crushes on complete strangers.

Ok . . . my most beautiful celebrity is Milla Jovovich. The main reason why, however, is because she portrayed Joan of Arc in an awful, historically inaccurate movie awhile back. I daresay that everytime I look at Milla I imagine she is Joan of Arc, and that I'm more attracted to Jehanne than I am to Milla.

. . . . but I've hit a point where I try to avoid crushes on complete strangers.

It's the craziest thing, to be interested in a person you will never meet (unless you're a stalker), you don't know well enough personally, and will never be with (unless against their will). Definitely an activity to avoid.

RobinHood3000

Not that I'm not a stalker (I prefer the term hunter myself) -- I just don't see myself fawning if I were to encounter a celebrity on the avenue.

Oh, which one to pick, I have 3 fairly significant celebrity crushes. First one to come into my head is Harry Sinclair, who played Isildur in LOTR. That character fascinated me even before I saw the movie but Harry made me love him.

http://mysite.orange.co.uk/Isildurslovekitten/images/5-picture3.jpg

and my other major crush has been festering for years and years, Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd in all his greasy rock god splendor.

Well, I never had crushes on celebrities. I remember with disgust the time after "Titanik" when a huge number of girls were wearing DiCaprio shirts. I, obviously can appreciate the beauty of some of them. Here is Selma Hayek

Growing up in LA, where it is taboo to fawn over a celeb if you see them in public (sooo uncool!, lol), I could crush all I wanted but never dreamed of running up to them and being like "Oh my God I love you!!!" heehee

I loved Seth Green when I was young(er), and really, what heterosexual female could resist Johnny Depp? (swoon)

A long time ago, I had a little bit of a crush on Jessica Alba, she was pretty hot in the days of Dark Angel. She was about the only reason I watched the show, because it was pretty awful. Nowadays, it has passed, and I'm once again without a celebrity crush. :D

She was quite easy on the eyes in 'Into The Blue' too. Which is a film from last year, so maybe I'm not past this celeb crush yet. :goof:

Having said that, I am generally quite underwelmed at the prospect of meeting or seeing a celebrity. At the off chance I actually recognize a celebrity, I'd probably just go on my business. I have no intention to get all autography and swoon in their presence or anything like that.

Jessica Alba might be the exception though, but she needs to put on a bit of weight, she's too thin last time I saw a pic of her.

Yes, any celebrity crush I am likely to have will be entirely based on outward beauty. That's why I'll never take myself serious with celebrity crushes. :)

It is, isn't it? He was such a pretty man, although I find him just as attractive now even though he's about 60. I won't argue with you there, Dave has the gift of melody and Roger has the gift of words and they sound the best when they're together. Dave's solo efforts are sorely lacking decent lyrics and Roger's are sorely lacking a decent melody.

I just don't find his solo stuff musically compelling at all. Lyrically, they're brilliant but I can't get truly excited about listening to them because they're just not interesting and then when I listen to Rogerless Floyd or David's solo albums, they sound nice but it's hollow, like pretty noise, there's no depth and it pains me to say that but unfortunately, it's true. :(

I do really like The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, Roger's first solo album, if you don't count The Final Cut  but he had Eric Clapton on that one and that seemed to help a great deal.

Virgil, we've been over this before: nope he's not a bald ugly old man.

hehe, I've had a crush on him ever since I was 13... in fact, when I was 13 I wanted to marry him and was terribly jealous when I found out he was married at the time....
well,... I'd never stalk him or scream "I love you" or nonsense like that though... actually, I've managed to watch him at the thatre TWICE  and haven't assaulted him so far :D
plus, I mainly like him as an actor and of course also for his looks and aura but I don't really care about what kind of person he is in reality...

of course they're in the same age bracket in terms of years but if you stopped to compare their looks...
and besides, good-looking men are like quality cheeses.. the older they get the more they stink... er, oops, wrong metaphor.. well you know what I mean.

has anyone ever noticed how old women tend to look 20 years older than old men who are exactly the same age? (except some actresses of course).
it's really unfair.. in 20 years (when I'm 45) I'll look like 90 and my husband will still look 40 when he's 80...

Yeah, the acting in the Star Wars movies is kind of embarrassing isn't it? Or maybe it isn't the acting so much as the dialogue, especially the scenes with Natalie Portman. But what you can you do with lines like those? But I did see Life as a House and I thought he did a great job. He was decent in Shattered Glass also and I am waiting to see Awake.

For some reason, I think the guy is hot and it doesn't have much to do with his acting ability, the same way men think Britney Spears is hot (or used to before she got that white trash makeover). I don't think their opinion has anything to do with her singing ability.

Agreed, Shalot -- to be honest (and a little mean), I'm surprised George Lucas can hold conversations. The man is a visionary, and we in the geek community owe him a great deal, but his ability to write dialogue is sadly limited.

hehe, yeah, when I was around 15 the girls at my school were the same, only it was Depp vs some other guy, Brad Pitt or someone.
i think it's mainly mass hysteria, like a couple of girls start swooning over Depp etc so all the others have to go along to prove they're not gay or geeky or something.
I liked bloom as Legolas and I'm sure he's a great actor but I don't think he's cute when he's not wearing his Legolas make-up. same goes for the other Elf guy Idril fancies. I think he looks great as an Elf but not as a human.

I definitely agree with that, even Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor come off as stiff and uncomfortable and that's quite a feat, making actors of that calibur look bad so Hayden doesn't stand a chance.

He's not an elf, he's a Man! :D You can tell because he doesn't look like a man in drag like most of the elves in Jackson's movies. It took me some time to adjust to Harry Sinclair as a person and not as Isildur but I've come to fancy him in that incarnation as well, it just took a little longer.

SleepyWitch

oops, sorry i meant vintage's Elf guy :) sorry i got you two mixed up :) too many LotR fans in here. hehe, I know Isildur is human :)

about Depp: of course I meant it's mass hysteria with most girls except vintage :)
I mean the girls at my school didn't know the first thing about acting and didn't care either they only liked those actors because they fancied them. it's different if you think he's a good actor and fancy him on top of that... :)
hehe, I'm getting way to heated up about this :) I'd better read a good book and take a break from General Chat :)

When I was younger Carole Lindley--to Patty Duke--to Faye Dunaway--many flirtations thereafter then finally settling on Nicole Kidman while seeing Stephanie Zimbalist on the side. The weird (to me) part is I like VERY few of Nicole's movies and have certainly NOT seen them all. It's her eyes--they seem to look right thru you. Which is why Job says I have made a covenant with my eyes why should I look upon a maid?

I'm quite positive Sleepy has already mentioned Patrick Stewart, so I'm just adding my admiration for him to the pot, otherwise I've thought that Christopher Walken was something else ever since the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Sarah Plain and Tall. Other contenders for my fancy include, Colin Firth, and Joaquim Phoenix for some reason I can't put my finger on, maybe it's his imperfect perfection. I used to love Bill Pullman but I've forgotten about him in the last few years.

I like Joaquin also. He first caught my attention in Clay Pigeons, which is a hilarious movie to me. And he was good in Gladiator too. Did you know that he was also in Parenthood as Gary? (but I think in the credits his name was Leaf Phoenix. ) But who cares -- he's such a hottie to me.

Oh, I know, I'm just a little bitter about the whole movie Faramir thing because he was such a wonderful character in the book and Jackson just kind of took out everything that was admirable about the guy and I can never let an opportunity to complain about that pass by. :p

A Phoenix brothers debate? I think River had a more youthful look and Joaquin is older looking, even though I believe he is the younger of the two. Poor River, I felt sorry for his family when he died (and for him as well)

Idril, I tend to agree with you re:Faramir. It seemed in the movie he was mostly about trying to get his father's approval and feeling bad because Daddy didn't love him.
Those things are important but the character was about more than that.

My bad! I'm not sure, but for some reason, if they are in their twenties at the time of the picture or whatever or handsome, I dunno, then its instantly in my head, "Wo he is Gorgeous!!!!" And I'm not saying this to be weird or anything, or not trying to sound weird but when I'm with my mom and I see a older man, but sometimes older men age well and they are handsome but not in a way that I would date them or anything like that! Hahaha! I dunno, but there is something about actors from the 20's-60's that makes them different from modern day actors. They are so HANDSOME! Don't get me wrong, actors now days are pretty good looking, but come on! Sean Connery, wow, he was amazingly good looking and this is when I wasn't even born!

But here's another view...

Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt they aren't in their twenties and they are very good looking! 12yr old girls drool over Depp who is almost as old as my mother! So I don't feel alone anymore!:D Not that I cared anyways...leave me with Alan Bates!

Lily Adams
06-18-2007, 02:25 AM
Johnny Depp is handsome, too, but I think I've seen so many pictures of him plastered on People magazine as "Sexiest Man Alive" so many times that...I dunno. He's really one of my top favorite actors, but yeah. I don't really admit that much, because I know if I say that people automatically think I have a crush on him. I appreciate him more for his amazing acting abilities. But he's the only exception for 12 year olds to like an older man. Because it's so common. And everyone agrees.

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/8722/kai.jpg

Michael McManus is the actor, a clip from a show I would rather not mention since people who watched it usually hate it and hate me along the way, too.

Apart from that...? Oh, I don't know. I usually pay attention the character, rather than the actor. An actor could be good in one movie and pretty boring in another. But if I really had to choose, it would be Jude Law:

http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2005/07/18/judelawalfie_wideweb__430x293,1.jpg

Starsky and Hutch (to use its original spelling, it became Starsky & Hutch a few episodes into the run) is a 1970s American television series that consisted of 89 episodes of 60 minutes and a single-90 minute pilot, created by William Blinn and broadcast between April 30, 1975 and May 15, 1979 on the ABC network; distributed by Columbia Pictures Television in North America and, originally, Metromedia Producers Corporation in some other parts of the world.

Now I much prefer Ralph to Joseph. Joseph is fine but there is just something about Ralph...I think it's the element of danger because he often seems like he might be a tad bit unbalanced.

And in accordance with my current musical obsession, I give you, Josh Homme...

He's from Queens of the Stone Age.

And good lord, Manolia, where is that picture of Keanu from? It just makes me giggle to think of him in some serious period piece because you're right, he really needs to find a new profession because he's not very good at his job. :p

The picture is from "Little Budha". The movie is nice (Keanu wasn't successful in spoiling the film, because he didn't talk much in it  ). He just had to be good looking for this one (THAT he can do  )

Need to add someone. Well, he was very attractive when he was young. (Actually, he's 81 now but for a 81-year-old he still looks good. And he's nice! And, ah, what a voice! And I sometimes wish I were born 80 years ago, ahem. ;) )
