The Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson or Lewis Carroll, the author of 'Alice in Wonderland' and several other stories for children, had a tender relationship with Evelyn Hatch, Ethel Hatch and Beatrice Hatch, the daughters of the Reverend Edwin Hatch. This was evident from their letters which described the times they spent together watching plays or engaging in an activity they enjoyed. Carroll's special affinity for children declined a little when they grew older, but his friendship with the Hatch sisters lasted till he died on Jan 14, 1898.
