The Story of Francis Cludde is a novel by British author Stanley Weyman first published in 1891. It is set in England and Northern Europe during the reign of Mary I and covers the period February 1555 to November 1558. The story opens in Warwickshire where 19 year old Francis Cludde lives with his uncle Sir Anthony and cousin Petronilla. He was left there eight years earlier by his father Ferdinand who then disappeared. His outspoken views get Francis into trouble during a visit from Mary's powerful Chancellor Stephen Gardiner, who advises him to leave England for his own good.
