The Art of Reading
I would recommend both volumes of the Cambridge Lectures to anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding and appreciation of literature. As someone who has never been to university except to deliver beer to the Uni bar, I can only envy the students who first heard these lectures and had the opportunity to question and discuss them with Quiller - Couch. I certainly prefer reading him on literature to Fred & Queenie Leavis. But that`s for another thread.
