PG Wodehouse shows his usual cunning in weaving his plots. In this story, Mike Jackson has to go to a bank to earn his money, instead of going to Varsity. The bank manager was a person whom Mike had previously met in unpleasant circumstances. There, by an unusual and artistic coincidence he meets Psmith. Both of them loathe the bank manager for reasons of their own. What follows is plot after plot, from the attempt to gain the friendship of Mr. Rossiter to the offering of their resignation
