The Portrait
In my opinion (I think it only fair to commence with such a statement, lol), this Portrait short story was by far the finest bit of writing that Gogol provided. It is gripping, sometimes comical in description, full of suspense, and had my eyes glued to each page till I was done the story. I dare not discuss this short story else I'd ruin it for those who have not yet indulged. But read this! Yes read it now!
