    Baby shoes
    For sale
    Never worn

but this is my take on it!

    baby shoes
    brand new
    not for sale
    it may never try
but when it does it sigh
    it is just that
    good
    it fly

What is it you are trying to smooth over Cacian?

The quoted one I believe comes from Hemingway as an example of one of, if not "the" shortest short story ever written.

Just the grammar is incorrect. No sale is a possible interpretation. But it's trivial.

Your take kind off ruins it; it takes away all the beauty hemingway attached to those words.

Hemingway demonstrates how great a story you can tel with such few words. The reliance on ambiguity is key.
I wrote a poem on a leaf and it blew away...

Alexander I take your point but where is the fun in not experimenting with language.
The whole point of literature is that it is up there for grabs.
I think if I started something a short book with 2pages and someone else came along and readapted their own motives I would be more then chuffed.
How is someone else suppose to think and change?
Isaw that Hemingway version I did not like it so I changed it the way I liked it.
This is perfectely natural thing to do.

I saw the story and I did not think it was ambiguous but more indiscreet , insensitve and manipulative.
    So I changed it.
A reader is more then just passive a reader can turnt the table around whenever they feel like it.
If read a book and I think it is offensive, insensitive and ignorant of other peoples' feelings I will take action and rewrite a new version.
    I am entitled to it.

Ernest Hemingway was once prodded to compose a complete story in six words. His answer:"For sale: baby shoes, never used."
