Status Quo or Wide Open Spaces?

Her Prairie Knight, by B.M. Bower, is a delightful romp in a spirited, young girl's discovery of freedom -- both the freedom to choose her future spouse, and the freedom to choose the way she lives her life. Throughout this tale, traditional stereotypical thinking is constantly held up to contrast with free and impartial logic. The contrast is plain between old world thinking of class and social status, and frontier egalitarianism, when viewed from the perspective of endless prairie and pastureland and woodland in which human endeavor counts as currency. Character is measured by what one can do and what one will dare to do. Firm decisions and fair play are considered as marks of honor.
