Boston College has acquired a substantial collection of manuscripts, diaries, notebooks and letters by the Irish poet William Butler Yeats, giving the college what is apparently the largest Yeats manuscript collection outside Ireland.
The materials purchased from the Yeats family include original versions of some of Yeats' earliest prose and poetry as well as more than 200 letters the poet wrote to his father and two sisters, the college announced yesterday.
