Yeats' Plays:
In the course of his long and quite successful career as a playwright,
Yeats wrote a great number of plays, including works on Irish, Christian and
esoteric themes. It would be impossible, in a book of this length, to deal
adequately with all these often complicated and obscure dramas, so emphasis
will be placed on what is perhaps the poet's most important contribution to
the dramatic form-his elaborate and often brilliant cycle of plays dealing
