The Only Jealousy Of Emer
The Only Jealousy of Emer directly follows the close of On Baile's
Strand and picks up the story of Cuchulain's fight with the sea. He is thrown
up out of the waves as an image of his own self, and though he is apparently
dead, his wife, Emer, and his mistress, Eithne Inguba, attempt to call him
back from the other world, the realm of the dead. Through the intercession of
a spirit from the Country-under-Wave, the Figure of Cuchulain, who takes the
