"Be careful what you wish for, you may receive it."
The expression reportedly dates back to the early 1900s and a W.W. Jacobs short story that revolves around the severe consequences of having wishes granted. Jacobs' piece ("The Monkey's Paw") was in play again this week for anyone who had this reaction - "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle" - when it was announced the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team will travel to Duke in late November for the ACC/Big Ten challenge.
