Part I - The Wild Land.

After eleven years of struggle, John Bergson, a Swedish immigrant, dies,
leaving his family only their sod house and 640 acres of unyielding Nebraska
prairie. His daughter, Alexandra, a strong, resolute blonde girl of twenty,
rises to the challenge. She spurs on her stolid brothers, Lou and Oscar. She
uses to advantage sound hints on hog-raising gleaned from Crazy Ivar, an
