Theater historians may consider Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest the "perfect comedy," but to theatergoers it's just plain fun. Wilde is at his best in this hilarious play as he makes fun of the English upper classes and dazzles us with his light- hearted humor.
In order to add some excitement to their lives, two young men, Jack Worthing and Algernon Montcrief, bend the truth in order to woo two young women, both of whom are determined to marry someone named Ernest. The resulting charade leads to confusion, confessions and declarations of love.
