Russian nationalist protesters on Thursday briefly disrupted a speech by Oscar Wilde's grandson before the nation's first ever gay parade due to take place in Moscow this weekend, a gay rights activist said.

Around 20 people broke into a hall of a library where the speech by Merlin Holland was taking place, shouting nationalist slogans and throwing eggs, said Nikolai Alexeyev.

The intruders also sprayed an unknown gas, stopping the lecture. Police ordered the hall evacuated and detained the demonstrators and the lecture resumed in another part of the ...
