Man may have survived leap off Walt Whitman Bridge.(Brief article)

Apr. 20--A man was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital this morning after jumping off the Walt Whitman Bridge, according to Philadelphia police.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, reportedly pulled his vehicle over on the bridge during rush hour and jumped.

The Coast Guard pulled him out of the water.

Traffic on the bridge was jammed from before 9 a.m. to nearly 9:30 as police investigated the incident.

No other details are yet available.

Several other bridge-jumping cases have made headlines in the recent months.
