According to the philosophy of Mandy Patinkin, who plays the title character in TNT's new two-hour "The Hunchback," "Always look for that one line that defines what something's about."
While working in Prague and Budapest on this latest version of Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," which premieres Sunday, Patinkin wrote on his gym shoe a line that the hunchback Quasimodo says to his mentor, "Tell the truth."
But when it comes to retelling classic tales like Hugo's epic 19th-century novel, the question becomes: Whose truth?
