Commentator David Frum takes the Disney studios to task for creating a film so loosely based on Victor Hugo's classic, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", that Frum describes it as ``defacing a cultural monument.' '

ALEX CHADWICK, Host: Parents, get ready. Walt Disney's newest animated adventure premiers on Friday. This time the film studio has opted not to rewrite history, as it did with its last cartoon blockbuster, Pocahontas. Instead, Disney has rewritten a classic 19th century novel, Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
