Murder In The Cathedral: Part I
Part I
The play opens with the Chorus commenting on its presence near the
Cathedral. The women say they are there to bear witness-that seven years
have passed since the Archbishop left-that they are waiting as the will of God
commands.
Comment:
The opening chorus expresses the idea that mankind, as symbolized by the
poor women of Canterbury, is waiting for something to happen, has been forced
