T.S. Eliot incorporated in his works the political, religious and literary ideologies promoted by French critical theorist Charles Maurras. Although he believed Maurras erred in attempting to form a political party, Eliot used Maurras' concept of politicized religion as a literary device in his poetry. This device allowed Eliot to depict a quest for order rather than faith.
