SILCHAR, May 12 -- The 147th birthday of Rabindranath Tagore on May 9 was celebrated in Silchar town.The celebrations were held in different locations by various cultural organisations. Tributes were paid by Silchar Municipal Board, Silchar Lions Club and Aryasanskriti Bodhani Samiti at the statue of Rabindranath Tagore situated at India Club road.The programme was presided over by the eminent litterateur Bhakti Madhav Chatopadhaya.
