Kolkata/Agartala, May 9 -- Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore's 146th birth anniversary is being celebrated across India. In West Bengal, a festival-like atmosphere prevailed on Wednesday (May 9).

Tagore's birth anniversary is celebrated across the state with great zeal and enthusiasm. The day is mainly celebrated through various cultural programs.

Tagore was born in 1861 and established the Viswabharati University in 1921. He donated his Nobel Prize winnings and royalty from his books to this university.
