New Delhi, May 9 -- Led by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, parliament paid rich tributes to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 144th birth anniversary Monday.
Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Chatterjee were among those who paid floral tributes to the acclaimed poet who was born in Kolkata in 1861. He won the Nobel in 1913.
Leaders of the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were not present at the function that took place in the Central Hall. The NDA is boycotting parliament.
