Tagore's Nobel medal stolen in India
CALCUTTA, India, Mar 25, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- India's first Nobel Prize, won by Rabindranath Tagore in 1913, has been stolen, news reports said Thursday.
Both the medal and the citation are missing from the safety vault of the museum of Visva Bharati University, in Santiniketan, West Bengal, which Tagore founded in 1921.
Along with the Nobel, several other personal belongings of Tagore have also been stolen, the Times of India reported.
